In the Nursing Engineering Lab, we are focusing on the development of Personalized healthcare and Health Management Strategy/ System Based on Wearable technology in both Nursing and Engineering perspectives.

Projects

 

Home & Sports Healthcare System

Using IoT, sensors network, and wearable technology, we are focusing on the development of home healthcare system/ strategy for elderly people and patients and their family who need a systematic and continuous health management at home. The sports healthcare system focuses on the development of a system that provides personalized exercise intensity and exercise method to individuals by managing the exercise equipment and updating exercise prescriptions through the feedback of the bio-signals during exercise.

 

ECG and EMG measurement underwater using hydrophobic CB/PDMS electrodes

We are studying the wearable biometric devices and systems for bioelectrical signals (electrocardiogram (ECG), electromyogram (EMG), electro-dermal activity (EDA), etc.) in all environments (on land, wetted condition, and even underwater using hydrophobic CB/PDMS electrodes. This system enables a real-time bio-signal monitoring during aquatic exercise and rehabilitation exercise, so that we are focusing on the improvement of this technology to be able to be extended to existing healthcare devices/systems and health promotion programs which have been mainly conducted on land.

 

 

 

 

Wearable Armband Device for Continuous AFib Monitoring

Development of a wearable device which is able to minimize a wearing discomfort and improved a quality of bio-signal can effectively contribute to the early detection and treatment through continuous monitoring of signs and symptoms of heart failure including atrial fibrillation (AFib), and various disorders of diseases. We are focusing on the development of personalized wearable biometric devices/ systems considering personal medical record, and bio-parameters required by individual’s prescription, and as well as on development of signal processing algorithms for detections of features from collected data and for removing significant noises.
