Final Paper. 3 pages. You have been challenged to integrate your education and college experience at UMass in this one course, an "integrative experience" course. Can it be done? Can you transcend an experience while having it?

A college education requires courses (like a race course, or a course of study) that constrain you. A college education also requires freedom to imagine and self-direct. How do you balance those two competing features, constraint and freedom (programming and hacking)? And how do systems around you balance these features—systems of language, of literary genre, of decoding meaning, of education, and of an education in literature here at UMass?

Ruminate on these questions in a thoughtful, five-page paper.
