Prospective graduate students interested in joining our lab should first apply to the Chemical Engineering program at UMass Amherst.

We accept undergraduate students on a continual basis. Please look through our research page and send Dr. Bai an email to apply for a position. The email should include: 1) your current resume, 2) a 500 word description of your research interests and why you are interested in working in the Bai lab, and 3) a brief statement regarding your availability to work in the lab from now until your projected graduation date and how many hours per week you are willing and able to do research work.

• During the school semester, you are required to commit at least 10 hours per week working on a research problem. You can receive course credits during the school year to work in the lab (3.3 hours per week = 1 credit) or be paid through work study if eligible.
• During the summer, you can either work on a volunteer basis or find extramural funding sources to be paid during the summer months.
• You must maintain an overall GPA of 3.2 or better.
