PCA / Mentor: Posted 11/18/11

Job Posting from Fall Semester

I am in need of a girl who will be around the area through the end of the summer; who can help care for my 16-yr daughter who has developmental disabilities. This is a part-time position for 1-day a week to start; then will need on-call hours help at other times. Once this becomes a weekly stable position, on-call hours may become available. I will need to know if you are available to be on call, and if you will call me back when I call. My daughter is a social girl and loves to spend time with her 'buddy" (friend, companion, etc.). The person who is hired needs to be patient, strong, fun kind of personality to work well with her. You must also have some experience with special needs; some behaviors are present and have to be worked with. This is a great opportunity to gain experience with communications programs, too! Personal care is part of this position also; you should be comfortable with personal hygiene (bathing/toileting). Mostly needs guidance in keeping on task, and a friend to get her to play (which she learns from and will not do on her own). The position is for mostly at home, but would eventually like the person to be able to take her out on outings, so a car is pretty necessary. Should have somewhat of an open schedule on the weekends, and Sunday is when most time is needed. This position pays $12.50/hr. for about 4-5hrs/week with more as on-call. References are required.
