concert season
- Saturday, Sept. 27, 2003, 4-10 pm: Singers'
Project and Cantabile,
in both of which I sing bass, participate in a project of the Grace
Church
(Amherst) Center for Sacred Music: Spem in alium nunquam habui,
a 40-voice motet by Thomas Tallis, with other works of the Anglican
Church
tradition, performed by members of the above-mentioned groups as well
as
Pioneer Valley Cappella, the Grace Church Choir and other area singers.

- Saturday, Oct. 11, 2003, 3 pm &

Oct. 12, 2003,
3 pm: J.S. Bach's Weihnachts Oratorium (Christmas
Oratorio),
presented as part of the New
England
Bach Festival, Blanch Moyse, director, at Perssons Auditorium,
Marlboro
College, Marlboro VT. I am a long-term "ringer" in the tenor section of
the Blanche Moyse Chorale.
- Sunday, Oct. 19, 2003, 4 pm: Novi
Cantori, in which I sing baritone, gives the 5th performance of its
25th anniversary concert at St. Mary's Episcopal Church, Manchester,
CT.
Program includes Haydn's Grosse Orgelmesse (Great Organ Mass)
with
Larry Schipull, organist, and works by Purcell and others.
- Saturday, Oct. 25, 2003, 3:15 pm: Abridged
repeat performance of April 15 recital program The Librarian's
Muse: Songs
and Poems by Librarians and Lexicographers, with pianist Janet
St. Jean and narrator Corinne Ebbs; for Fall meeting of the New

- Tuesday, Nov. 4, 2003, 10:30 am: The
vocal
octet Cantabile,
in which I sing bass, performs for the Tuesday Morning Music Club of
Springfield.
Also on the program is organist Grant
Moss. Cantabile will sing works by Victoria, Josquin, Schütz,

- Saturday, Nov. 8, 2003, 7:30 pm: The
vocal
octet Cantabile,
in which I sing bass, is guest professional vocal ensemble at Choral
Spectrum
'03, performing with the UMass/Amherst Chamber Choir, Chorale &
Women's
Choir with American Choral Directors' Association High School Honors
Choirs.
Each choir will sing pieces from its repertoire and the choirs will
join
for "Dona Nobis Pacem" from J.S. Bach's B Minor Mass, E. Wayne
Abercrombie,

(Winter journey), with fortepianist Monica Jakuc,

The piano being used in this concert is a 6 1/2 octave replica inspired
by a Conrad Graf fortepiano of c. 1819 in Goat Castle, near Prague,
Czech Republic. It was built for Monica Jakuc by American maker Paul
McNulty, who lives and works in Divissov, Czech Republic. This is its
American debut in concert. Mar. 5 at Neilson Library
