Welcome. This site has three main sections: classes, resources, and grammar. (Handouts has most of your course handouts available in one spot. There's a help section, but it is very limited.) These links are always available to you as you navigate. Classes contains your course syllabus, related readings, and links. Resources includes an extensive help section, class policies, guidelines about writing papers, advice about taking my exams, and so forth. The grammar section includes Professor Michael Drout's King Alfred's Grammar, an on-line introduction to Old English. There is also a detailed grammar chart, and the beginnings of a Natural Language Parser for Old English. In all cases, this website is an integral part of your classes. It is not an optional supplement. If you cannot regularly access the web, please let me know. All material is © Stephen J. Harris 2011-13 unless otherwise noted. The image above is part of a wall chart of the history of the English language by Jennifer Goodheart.
