Homework
Getting Started:
Homework for the course is done on the computer using the OWL (Online Web-based Learning) system. You can log on to this system by using most any web browser (Netscape, MS Explorer) to go to the following URL: http://owl.oit.umass.edu/departments/Physics/login.html
If you are officially registered in the course you should already have an OWL account with login ID equal to your student ID number (no hyphens) and password equal to your last name. You should also be registered for Physics 125. If Physics 125 is not available, you will need to send in a request to be added using the add/switch courses button.
If you are one of those fortunate individuals not yet burdened with his/her own computer, have no fear. A resource room is available in
Hasbrouck 205 with plenty of computers. Hours are 10-7 M-Th and 10-3 F, with staff available every day. When you first log on, take time to read the help pages carefully and go through the
First Time Tutorial that teaches you how to use the OWL system. Next complete GB's math test. The math self-test is an ungraded (but required) quiz that gives you an idea of the math skills expected for the course.Policy:
Homework assignments are generally due by Wednesday noon of each week. No excuses (not even accidental death) are accepted for missing a deadline. However, late homework is still accepted and awarded 50% credit.
