Grading Policy

The various contributions to the course are weighted as follows:

There are a total of 11 homework sets. Each set is weighted according to length and difficulty. The total of all sets is worth 25% of the grade. No homework sets are discarded. Late homework sets are awarded 50% credit.

The course numeric score is calculated as follows:

numeric score = 0.25 homework percentage

+ 0.20 first exam percentage

+ 0.20 second exam percentage

+ 0.35 final exam percentage

 

Although I reserve the right to slightly adjust the scale for the final letter grades, here is the scale I try to stick with:
