Life Experience SchoolProcess and Involvement
Involvement at The Life Experience School begins for each student, at the time of admission, with an inclination toward peacemaking and desire to explore their own compassion and empathy in service to others. Together, peacemaking and service become the guiding themes of the educational experience for each student.

The admission procedure may differ for each student, depending on the circumstances of the referral. However, one should assume that all academic records and pertinent information on the student be filed with The Life Experience School administration; that the student spend at least one entire day at the school; and that the parent(s) or guardian tour the facilities and meet with faculty to develop a basic understanding of the school's history, philosophy of education, and its dedication to peacework.

For students between the ages of ten and twenty-two, local special education liaisons must be involved to assure Chapter 766 funding.

The following questions provide helpful guidelines in determining whether The Life Experience School is an appropriate placement for your child and family:

  • Do you feel that learning takes on special significance when the knowledge acquired, and the skills developed, encourage an individual to serve the causes of peace, social justice and the environment?
  • Would you like for your daughter or son to develop an abiding faith in his or her ability to make the world a better place?
  • Do you feel that peacemaking is an appropriate vocation for your child?
  • Do you place value on your child developing the ability to bring out the best in others?
  • Is it important to you for your child to learn cooperatively and joyfully with others in an atmosphere of gentleness, caring and giving?
  • Would you like to encourage your child to be responsible for his or her own self while being mindful and attentive to the needs of others?
  • Do you consider yourself a citizen of the planet, connected to, and sharing responsibility for, the human family, the animal kingdom, and the well-being of the environment?
