Quicklist of Cartoons

Herewith a list of drawings, caricatures, and photographs of over Victorian worthies, almost all of them accompanied by several paragraphs (sometimes pages) of intriguing, often revealing, commentary. They are with a few exceptions, disbound from books and their source, again with a few exceptions, is indicated by initials standing for the following volumes:

DM: A Gallery of Illustrious Literary Characters (1830-38) drawn by the late Daniel Maclise and accompanied by Notices chiefly by the late William Maginn. (Republished from "Fraser's Magazine.") Edited by William Bates. 1873.
FW: Cartoon Portraits and Biographical Sketches of Men of The Day. The Drawings by Frederick Waddy. 1873. [from "Once A Week"]
ME: Portraits of Men of Eminence in Literature, Science, and Art, with Biographical Memoirs. Photographs by Ernest Edwards. Edited by Lovell Reeve. 1863.
MM: Men of Mark. A Gallery of Contemporary Portraits of Men distinguished in the Senate, the Church, in Science, Literature and Art, the Army, Navy, Law, Medicine, etc. Photographed from life by Lock and Whitfield, with brief biographical notices by Thompson Cooper. 1876-78.
VF: The Vanity Fair Album: A Show of Sovereigns, Statesmen, Judges, and Men of the Day; with Biographical and Critical Notices: by Jehu Junior. 1st, 2nd and 3rd Series. 1869-71. (A few of later vintage)

There are some Maclure and Macdonald colored lithographs--I guess from the mid or late 60's--and a few other etchings and engravings.

My descriptions are usually taken from the caption accompanying the portrait and characterize the subject at the time. I've made occasional identifying additions. I'd be grateful for any corrections or clarifications.

I'd also be grateful for any information about what might be the low end of a reasonable amount to charge for these. And anyone wanting to buy lots of them would, of course, get a discount.

I also have a Darwin and a Faraday, several Disraelis and Gladstones nicely framed. Let me know if any of these might interest you. Also, a Peel (unframed) and a Gladstone (framed) memorial cloth (table-covering, handkerchief or wall-hanging--I don't know how these were used).
