You notice how the trees along the roadside are bisected and penetrated, shaped by the fact that they have grown under utility lines. You begin to see such trees everywhere.

You are drawn to their shapes. But how do you feel about them? Are they misshapen and deformed, or beautifully adapted?

Imagine other possibilities — scenarios where history takes a different course, where time runs backward as well as forward.
