Travel Information

The University of Massachusetts is situated in Amherst (Western Massachusetts), about 2 hours drive from Boston and 3 hours drive from New York city   The closest airports are Bradley International at Hartford, Connecticut (about 1 hours drive) and Logan International at Boston, Massachusetts (about 2 hours drive).   The most flexible way to get to UMASS is by hiring a car, but public transport is also available.  Driving instructions and information about public transport can be found below.

 

 

          

Directions for Drivers

 

From I-91 northbound, use exit 19 at Northampton and follow Route 9 east to Route 116 north.

 

From I-91 southbound, use exit 25 and follow Route 116 south.

 

From the Massachusetts Turnpike (I-90) westbound, use exit 8 at Palmer, following Route 32 south to Palmer, Route 20 west, Route 181 north to Belchertown, and Route 9 west to Amherst.

 

From the Massachusetts Turnpike (I-90) eastbound, use exit 4 onto I-91 northbound and then follow I-91 northbound directions above

 

 

Parking. Please park in the Lincoln Campus Center Parking Garage. Shuttle transportation will be provided to the Mullins Center.

Public Transportation to UMass

 

By Air. Bradley International Airport (Hartford/Springfield) is 45 miles south of UMass. Logan International Airport (Boston) is 90 miles to the east.

 

By Bus/Limousine. Peter Pan Bus Lines have bus services from Logan airport and from Bradley airport to the University of Massachusetts (1-800-343-9999). The Valley Transporter provides a limousine door-to-door service but is more expensive (1-800-237-8747).
