"Monster!"
"I want jelly beans"
This week is notable for Owen's dramatic change in sleeping habits. All of a sudden, our little lark started sleeping until 5:30, 6, 6:30+ For the first time, we've had mornings where we had to wake him up. This is unheard of! We've been speculating that it was the antibiotic, but I think it may have started a few days earlier - it's a bit of a blur.
Owen has a bad night on Monday, 1/5 after a good day. After dinner, his good mood evaporated and he started to go under. He was crying, whacking his ear, acting very unhappy. We decided to take him in to urgent care to get his ears checked, worried that we had a very long and unhappy night ahead of us.
We got one of the nicest pediatricians, and he bent over backward to be sweet to Owen. Entertaining. Friendly. Owen, who strangely was happily playing in the waiting room (!) went under completely as soon as he heard his name called and crossed the threshold of the examining area. His transformation for every doctor's appointment is startling. He acts like he's going to be tortured, and he fights having his ears or throat looked at with every part of himself. Or as the doctors and nurses say, "wow, he's strong" - they must dread his visits. I watch him trying to thrash away, kicking desperately, flailing out of my arms. Not an easy patient, even by toddler standards. And with the crying and angry tears, I'm surprised they can hear any of his breaths very well.
We're wondering if the change in Owen's sleeping habits is related to the antibiotic. If so, we'll enjoy it while we can.
