This Directory brings together for the first time information about programs in Exercise Science and the related fields of Physical Therapy, Physician Assistant, and Occupational Therapy. The growth of educational programs and career opportunities in these areas over the last 10 years has been excellent, and the prospects for the next decade are even brighter. Much of the information in this directory pertains to the graduate level, but information also relates to doctoral studies, professional accreditation, and various undergraduate programs, particularly in physical therapy.
In creating this Directory, we obtained information from many sources, including facts and figures kindly provided by graduate program directors of individual departments. Because departments continually change requirements, adding and replacing faculty, and instituting new programs, we encourage students to write, call, e-mail, or fax the departments for their latest information.
The Directory includes the following information about each program; areas of study, degrees offered, approximate costs (yearly costs or credit hour cost), number of full-time and part-time faculty (including number of women when available), number of full-time and part-time graduate students, and degree and entrance requirements. Also included are departmental addresses, telephone, e-mail, fax, and internet addresses. The institutions are listed alphabetically by State.
We encourage you to obtain more detailed information about each program from official catalogs. Faculty members also are excellent resources about graduate education, since most faculty know about the strengths and weaknesses of particular programs, and can provide valuable advice about the graduate or professional school experience.
