At the time of persecutions in Scotland of non-catholics the family moved to Ireland near Belfast. I think it must have been the time of the potato famine in Ireland that the family came to America. He met an Irish Catholic girl named Margaret McCarthy from Malone, NY and married her. I heard that her folks were wealthy and owned a ship building business in Malone and they disowned her for marrying a non-catholic. It just may be hearsay- I don't know for sure. [NI347] Arthur Peck died in a light {Cessna} plane that had engine trouble and tried to land on a nearby golf course after takeoff. The wings clipped a palm tree rupturing the fuel tanks and the plane exploded upon impact. Art died immediately of head wounds and his fellow pilot, Bill Scott a deputy Sherriff, died two days later of burns over 80% of his body. It is believed that Bill was the pilot. Art suffered from ALS and needed assistance getting in and out of the plane but he was considered a superb pilot.
