Synopsis:

March 8, 2002 Update:

Follow-up discussions on 1 stage problem and submission draft of Manuscript (simple random sampling)

The basic problem is estimation of subject response in a simple random sample. Results in this area have been the joint effort of Julio, John, Viviana, and Ed, and have been summarized in a manuscript entitled, "Design based prediction in simple random sampling with application to random effects,". This manuscript is at a submission stage and will be submitted to the Journal of Statistical Planning and Inference on 3/25/02 (after final comments are incorporated). The paper formalizes the results presented at the Cuba meetings (c02ed04.doc).

Two Stage Basic Results.

The basic manuscript describing the two-stage sampling results is being completed for submission. The near final draft is given by c01ed37.doc.

Reactions to Julio/Vivana's manuscript are needed (controver3v5.doc).

Grant Proposal Submission

A new grant proposal entitled "Improving Estimation in Clustered Randomized Trials," has been submitted to NIH on 2/1/2002. The grant was assigned the number 1-R01 HL071828-01, and will be reviewed by the Special Emphasis Panel, ZRG1 SNEM-5. The results of the review should be available at the end of July, 2002.
