Contributing to Excellence in Classics
We encourage friends and alums to contribute to the Gift Fund of the Department of Classics and to its Endowment Funds. Donations to the Gift Fund provide the Department with financial flexibility for the short-term. Donations to our Endowment Funds build up capital and guarantee the long-term fiscal well being of the department, its programs and its students. Mail-in donations are strongly preferred, and mailing information is available by visiting mail-in contributions, but if you would rather donate on-line via the universities secure web site, than please follow the steps outlined for online giving to ensure your gift is targeted to the Classics Department.

Gift Fund, Department of Classics
Contributions to the Gift Fund are for general use. These monies are allocated at the discretion of the Department’s chair. They provide services and scholarships to students when dollars are not otherwise available. In past years money from the Gift Fund has been used to fund the start up costs for an endowment fund, to support the travel of our graduate students to conferences, to support the purchase of equipment for the classroom, to fund the purchase books for the MAT library, to fund lectures, and to provide small stipends for the winners of the Department’s translation contests. These activities greatly enhance the collegiality of the Department, improve student and faculty interaction, and stimulate the scholarly exchange of ideas.

David F. Grose Memorial Endowment Fund in Classics
The David F. Grose Memorial Fund in Classics was established during the 2003-2004 academic year in order to provide support for our undergraduate students and the programs and scholarships that benefit them.

Frances and Henry Keitel Fund in Classics
The Frances and Henry Keitel Fund in Classics was established in 2000 through a generous donation by Frances Keitel, the mother of Professor Elizabeth Keitel. The interest from this Fund is used to support the research and professional development of departmental faculty.
