Substance Abuse Awareness at Amherst, MA High School
Site Purpose
The purpose of this site is to offer
the community a resource on substance abuse. In addition this site
will offer a way for the community to stay informed about what is
currently happening in Amherst to reduce youth substance abuse. The
goal of the grant is to reduce substance use in the high school. The
partnership will gather basic demographic data on students using
illegal drugs as well as from those who are not. Written surveys and
interview questions of all constituentships, including teachers,
staff, students, parents, police and community members, will provide
the partnership with vital information regarding the use of drugs,
including its prevalence, its frequency and the type of illegal
substances being abused. Survey and interview questions will identify
risk factors that may influence student's behavior with respect to
the use of drugs. We hope to understand if there are any other
important relations that may influence the use and or frequency of
drug use among students.
