REQUIREMENTS
1. Class attendance and participation. Students who miss more than two classes may be penalized.
2. Reading assignments, to be completed by the Tuesday class of each week.
3. Short papers, as announced. Students may skip one paper without penalty.
4. Term paper, 15 pages, on a topic chosen by the student and approved by the instructor. 
  A prospectus of the paper is due April 00; the paper itself is due May 00. Papers not received 
  by the due date will not be accepted, unless a written request for a specific extension has 
  been made, and approved by the instructor, by May 00.

The course grade will be based on the term paper (50%), the short papers (40%), and class 
  participation (10%).
