Grading Policy

This is the infamous grading page. It contains more than you ever wanted to know about grades, including:

grade components

grading scale

homework scores

exam scores

The various components of the course are weighted as follows:

Homework 25%

Two midterm exams 20% each

Final 35%

There are a total of 11 homework sets. Each set is weighted according to length and difficulty. The total of all 11 sets is worth 25% of the grade. No homework sets are discarded.

The course numeric score is calculated as follows:

numeric score	= 0.25 x homework percentage
	+ 0.20 x first exam percentage
	+ 0.20 x second exam percentage
	+ 0.35 x final exam percentage

Although I reserve the right to slightly adjust the scale for the final letter grades, here is the scale I try to stick with:
