A Modern Introduction to Biostatistics
Course Summary and Objectives

Introduction to Biostatistics develops and illustrates basic ideas in statistics with examples and applications in the biologic and health sciences. The course aims to:

  • introduce the statistical issues in the planning and analysis of research
  • enable an understanding of the basic statistical aspects of published research
  • help the student acquire introductory knowledge of probability and statistics as preparation for more specialized courses in the field

Upon completion of the course, the student will understand basic statistical principles, be able to summarize data in a meaningful way, and be able to formulate, implement and interpret estimates and hypothesis tests in one sample and two sample settings.
