Minutes 10/3/09 AT PLEDGE RETREAT :D
PRESIDENT
Next Meeting- October 12th will start at 6pm for hazing awareness with Mike Wiseman, following the brotherhood meeting at 7pm. Brothers and pledges need to attend so plan accordingly.
A huge thanks to Mia for organizing this pledge retreat! You did an amazing job! Thanks for all your work towards it! We appreciate it!
We are still looking for a bylaws committee (which revises and updates the bylaws) and you will get half hours for being on this committee. You meet once a week for about an hour, depending on everyone’s schedule will be the time. If you want to be on E-board it’s a great thing to do!
Conclave October 23-25 is now booked for the weekend with motel rooms. Exact times will be figured out later and people going will notified. People going will also be notified how much they will need to pay for their portion by Tom.
SVP
Franks is Wednesday at 7pm in Northampton contact Heater Forte if you are interesting in going (she is an alumni). Her email is auroraflipflops@yahoo.com

Concert Series is October 18th at 11am (it will last 45min but count as a full hour)
Chairing is going well.
Concert Series and Loaves for Love need chairs. Loaves of Love just need a co chair, but Concert Series need both. Pledges are welcomed and encouraged to shadow a service event.
For those of you who have stepped up to chair something- thank you!
We still need a few chairs so talk to Emily.

Contact List coming this week.
Pledge mailboxes will be up before Monday (Your mailbox is UNDER your name)
There has been food left in mailboxes so please don’t because it gets old if you leave it too long.
Office recently has been dirty so please try to keep it clean and throw away ALL your trash especially when you eat lunch in the office. (Recycle your water bottles, but don’t leave water bottles that aren’t finished in the office)
Pledges will be added to the server so they can receive all APO emails. It’s a process we can help you with if you need (especially forwarding the emails to another email if that’s easier as well). The emails are very important so it’s important to be added.
TREASURER
Dues are due at the LATEST for brothers at the October 12th meeting. Over half of the brothers still haven’t paid. If you do not either pay them by that time or sign a contract with Sakara for a payment plan for the semester you will NOT be an active brother (you will be an associate brother) and cannot be a big for this semester. (Dues are $60 for active brothers)
If you do sign a contract, please stick to your payment dates.
Pledge dues are due on October 12th (which is the first date they are due- they are on time on that date and not late). They are $70 for pledges.
OLD BUSINESS
Enchanted Forest is October 22-24, which is a mini Halloween celebration for kids and a great project. We do crafts and lead them on a path. On the 22nd we carve pumpkins for the event and the 23-24 are the event dates with the kids. Sign up is in the office and please sign up for rides as well if you can. The full information sheet for the event is in the office. Contact the chair, Jessica Yopak at jyopak@student.umass.edu
Erica- Home Sweet Home is building ramps for elderly in wheelchairs who need a ramp to get into their homes. We need to raise about $1500--$2000 and we get to build it as well. It’s a great experience and it only takes a day. You’ll feel great after doing it!
Voting for SAA- Michele is our new SAA! YAY!
NEW BUSINESS
Kevin- Chairing Homeless for a Night which will be in November. It’s a clothing drive. We do a press release and we spend the night outside like a homeless person does everyone. We do it during the colder weather for a bigger impact and people come by and drop off clothes, canned goods, etc. for donations that all go to the survival center. It really touches people and it’s an experience you’ll remember.
Transportation Chair- so in the past organizing rides has been tough to ensure everyone has a ride to an event. This will count as service hours. For now we are going to try having a list of driving with spots people can sign their name for themselves in the office. We will see how that goes.
Our bylaws for APOKO website if you would like to read them and become familiar with: http://people.umass.edu/~aphio/webpages2/bylaws.html
