Volunteers are needed for administrative support and client assistance, specifically in the business office, human resources, grant writing and possibly for direct client support. Responsibilities vary based on students' interests and abilities. Volunteers are most needed in the fall and spring, and times are flexible as long as they are scheduled in advance. Volunteers must be dependable. Training is provided on an as-needed basis.

Volunteers are needed to teach decision-making, problem-solving, and life-planning skills to inmates at the Franklin County House of Correction. Volunteers must be non-judgmental and believe that every person has gifts and potential. Two to three hours are needed each week during an eleven week cycle. A two-day training weekend is provided as well as an orientation at the jail site.

Office Assistant - An office assistant is needed to answer phones, staff the reception area and assist the Executive Director. Commitment is any day Monday through Friday, 9-5. Volunteers should be organized, with good phone skills. Training will be provided.
Staff Assistants are needed to help staff the Young Parent Residential Program. Responsibilities include: planning/implementing recreational/art activities for young parents, providing in-house child care, staffing the office, answering phones, and spending time with the residents. This is a 24 hour/day program, any time is important, especially 3-10 p.m. weekdays and weekends. Enthusiasm, creativity, and experience with young women are desired. Training provided.
Computer Asst - Computer literate individuals needed for data entry.
Maintenance Workers - Skilled and unskilled workers are needed to assist the House Manager in the upkeep of residential facilities. Help is needed to paint apartments, build shelves, clean basements, patch walls, more. Commitment can be on regular basis or one time only.
Shopping / Errand Assistants - Volunteers are needed to take clients on regular trips to shop or do laundry. A commitment of two hours each month would be helpful.

Kennel Assistants and Maintenance Workers-- help make the shelter facilities sparkle
TLC Attendants-- help keep the animals comfortable as they await adoption
Trained Volunteer Adoption Counselors-- help make placements in lifetime homes, placing adoptable animals with qualified applicants from the community.
Fundraisers-- help make sure the organization's efforts receive adequate financial support.
Foster Parents-- care for animals who arrive at the shelter and are too injured, young, or ill to be placed for adoption; supply food, toys, socialization and lots of love.

Citizen advocates are needed to be a friend to a person with developmental disabilities, share common interests and activities, provided support in life choices and decisions, maintain monthly contact with the Citizen Advocacy Advisor on all issues, and provide access to community events, clubs, and activities. Commitment: a monthly visit/outing/contact is required with the individual for one year. Volunteers need to be responsible, reliable, and committed to helping the developmentally disabled individual lead a full life and gain full access to his/her community. Orientation/training provided.

Support staff are needed to assist program directors at a busy Elder Services Agency. Duties vary: filing, data entry, making phone calls, and possibly some direct work with elders. Commitment is 2 hours each week (mid-week is preferred). Good verbal and written communication skills and an ability to work independently are desired. Training will be provided.

Public Relations Volunteer is needed to spearhead public relations and outreach for a small non-profit program serving the elderly. Responsibilities include: working extensively on written and verbal outreach to newspapers, radio stations, t.v. cable access, as well as with local councils on aging and social services. Time commitment is flexible. Orientation and training is provided.
