I'm interested in semantics and syntax but these days I oscillate between the following topics:

  • Numeral Expressions (particularly ordinals)
  • Number (semantics, syntax, morphology, typology)
  • Collectivity, distributivity, cumulativity
  • Sort-Shifting, if and how it's marked, where, and in what languages
  • Free choice items like n'importe, quelconque, and tout
  • The syntax and semantics of double objects and scope freezing
  • 'Average NPs' (the average American has 2.3 kids)
  • Formal tools in linguistic research: multidimensionality, alternative semantics, type-shifting strategies, etc.

Languages?

  • French (familiarity with many many dialects)
  • Arabic (classical and lebanese flavoured)
  • Nishnaabemwin (aka. odawa), an Algonquian language I got hooked on after taking a field methods course at the University of Toronto
  • Kono, a language of Sierra Leone.
