This journal was developed to share my Fulbright experience in Bangladesh with my students, faculty and friends who care to take a look. I received the Fulbright Scholar award to teach Diagnostic Plant Pathology at Bangladesh Agricultural University in Mymensingh, Bangladesh. I am also helping to teach a course in English, and host an informal discussion group on western culture. My family was with me for the first three weeks and many of the pictures that accompany this text were taken by my son Michael Wick, currently a graduate student in the Department of Computer Science at the University of Massachusetts. My friend and host Dr. Bahadur Meah and I received funding from the USDA to establish the first plant disease clinic in Bangladesh. The clinic is up and running and so far we have hosted two workshops at Bangladesh Agricultural University. We hope to have a third workshop in 2010. |
