This project was supported by the year 2005 University of Massachusetts Professional Development Fund # 21620. It presents a new approach to teaching and learning Chinese characters. According to recent research studies in learning Chinese as a foreign language, it takes three times longer to learn Chinese than to learn European languages, and learning Chinese characters is the most daunting task. To facilitate learning and teaching, this project introduces the 100 most-frequently used Chinese characters at multiple levels and accompanies them with relevant pictures/images and pronunciations.
