QFS98 -- Weather, etc.:

Temperature and precipitation: The local weather in June is typically relatively cool and comfortable. The heat and the humidity found later in the summer do not often arrive in June. June in Amherst is "late spring" with flowers, fresh leaves on the trees, cool mornings (45 F), mild afternoons (60 - 80 F) and evenings (50 - 60 F). Usually the frequent spring rains have ended, and June has relatively dry weather. But, the weather in New England can change quickly, and can fluctuate considerably over several days. It would be unusual for there to be no rain for a week-long period. Local people consider June to be one of the finest months of the year. If you are interested, you can look at the current local weather (and from that page obtain the weather anywhere else), or check a different server for the alternate local weather and a several-day future prediction for the Amherst area, or current conditions for several cities and towns in Massachusetts. For this latter site, more local current conditions and weather advisories are also available by entering our local zip code (01003) in the appropriate screen window and hitting the return key (not the "fast forecast" button). A current precipitation map and high or low temperature map is also available. The weather in Massachusetts generally comes from either the west or northwest (from the general area of Chicago), or from the southeast coast.

Comment: This year we had an unusually mild winter and spring began rather warm but has settled down to normal spring temperatures. Presumably the early warmth was due to El Nino. It is not yet clear if we will have an unusually warm June; May had relatively normal weather, and June has started out cooler than normal.

Allergy?: If you suffer from allergy to tree pollen, grass pollen etc., you can get some picture of the current conditions across the US by checking the CNN allergy maps.
