Photograph Mailed:
The conference photograph, a hard copy photograph of the image shown on this web page, was
mailed on July 14, 1999 to conference participants who purchsed one at the time of the conference or very shortly
after the conference. It was mailed first class
within the United States, and it was mailed airmail to overseas locations. Accompanying the photograph is
a low resolution digitally created regular copy of the enumerated image later on this site and a page of identification information
which allows identification of those in the photograph. That copy is the same as shown later on this
web page. All but three persons in the photograph have been identified.
Conference Photograph:
At the QFS98 meeting held at the University of Massachusetts Amherst, a group photograph was taken
of most participants. Below is an image of one of
the smaller format negatives (35 mm) scanned to
high resolution, cropped, and then made into JPEG format at 300 dpi resolution.
The file is 280K and is adequate for ready identification of
participants in the photograph. There were six 35 mm images taken, followed by six
6 x 7 cm images. This is the fourth of the six 35 mm images.
People joined the picture as the photos were taken. The hard copy of the conference photograph
was made from the same negative which was used to produce this
web photograph, and the result has higher resolution. (Please also read the section below the image.)
Identification:
We made an effort to identify all those who are in the photograph, and with the help of many participants
were able to identify all but three people shown in the photograph.
