QFS98 -- Anticipated Deadlines:
Intentions: March 9, 1998. : Our
February 12, 1998 e-mail
included a request for an electronic response by March 9, 1998 from
those who tentatively
plan to attend our conference. This response is being used for planning purposes,
and will not obligate those who responded. This form has served its purpose and it has been
removed from our system.
Registration deadline: April 10, 1998. All persons who
definitely intend to register for the
conference must do so by April 10, 1998. Full registration details have been
provided in an e-mail distributed March 26, 1998, and the
registration form has been placed
on our Web site. Registration is electronic in the manner of our previous intent to register form.
Based on the intent to register response we have received we anticipate that the
conference may be mildly
oversubscribed. All who register by April 10, 1998 will
receive a response on acceptance by April 24, 1998. Although we will
carry out registration by
electronic means, conference
fees will be paid by regular mail
or by FAX (FAX for those using credit cards) as described
on the registration form. We will do our best to consider post-deadline regristrations, but
once our conference limit has been reached by admission decison, our flexibility
will be extremely limited.
Abstracts deadline: due April 10, 1998 by e-mail, in
LATEX format. We have twice distributed a template which can be used to prepare your
abstract. Please be certain to create a local printout using your LATEX
abstract to guarantee that your LATEX file does what it is supposed to do. If you need the template, please click
here.
Fax copies of abstracts
will be acceptable, but we strongly urge electronic submission. Invited
abstracts will
be condsidered on time if they arrive by April 17, 1998.
Post-deadline Abstracts: Abstracts received after April 12, 1998 (other than invited abstracts)
will be considered to be post-deadline.
Post-deadline abstracts will be considered on an individual basis. They may be sent as
regular abstracts, by e-mail, in
LATEX format. We will make every effort to smoothly merge accepted post-deadline
abstracts into the conference, but will mark them as post-deadline.
Fax copies of abstracts
will be acceptable, but we strongly urge electronic submission.
Payment of fees deadline: May 8, 1998. This payment
(in US dollars) will be through University Conference Services, and Visa, MasterCharge,
etc. will be acceptable forms of payment. Details on how to accomplish this are provided
along with the registration information which
is available on our registration form. Your electronic registration will
create a personalized form which you will then be able to use to send your payment to
our Conference Services office. Payment must be made by
regular mail or by FAX (credit cards) and be received by our Conference Services office
no later then May 8, 1998. There will be no additional service charge for those who
provide payment by credit card. Conference Services will acknowledge receipt of your
payment by regular mail, and will include location information, a campus map, etc. in the
mailing.
Manuscripts deadline: to arrive by regular mail no later than
June 1, 1998 in Amherst, camera ready manuscripts on paper in JLTP format, 6 pages for
contributed papers. Please send one camera ready original (so marked), and three copies.
Also include a cover letter which indicates the name, e-mail address, and phone number of
the author who should be contacted if we have questions about your manuscript. We also
encourage you to indicate in your letter the names of
three people (who are likely to attend the conference)
who might be suitable referees.
Referees will complete consideration of the contributed manuscripts
by the end of the conference, and revised manuscripts will be due back in Amherst,
camera ready by August 1, 1998. By agreement with the journal, publication in the
Journal of Low Temperature Physics is anticipated, with publication dates of
December 1998 and /or January 1999. The mailing address for manuscripts
is QFS98 - Manuscript, c/o Prof. Robert B. Hallock, Department of Physics and Astronomy, Hasbrouck Laboratory,
University of Massachusetts, Amherst, MA, 01003, USA.
