About Edinburgh

Edinburgh (pronounced ED-in-bo-ro) is a truly enchanting city, a place with a rich past and a vibrant present. The streets downtown, lined with shops and pubs, wind their way toward the centerpiece of the city, a fairy-tale-like castle perched on a high cliff. The Royal Mile connects the castle with the Palace of Holyroodhouse and features many interesting stops such as St. Giles High Kirk, the Scotch Whiskey Heritage Centre, the Witchery, the Writers Musem, and the new Scottish Parliament Building.

Although the winters in Scotland can be a bit bracing, the summers are generally lovely, much like New England in the summer without the heatwaves. And that's a good thing because Edinburgh is best accessed on foot, and the weather makes walking a pleasure.

Edinburgh is also home to several other festivals during the summer including the International Festival, Film Festival, Book Festival, Jazz Festival, and Edinburgh Art Festival.
