Adam Werle
I work as a linguist for the Ditidaht Studies Program at Ditidaht Community School in Nitinaht Lake, British Columbia. Our staff documents, teaches, and develops curriculum for Ditidaht language and culture.
The school and village where we work are located on the Malachan Reserve on the shores of Nitinaht Lake. Nitinaht Lake is actually an inlet of the Pacific Ocean, extending about 15 kilometers in from the west coast of Vancouver Island. The reserve is located at the head of the inlet, about an hour-and-a-half's travel from Port Alberni, and about two-and-a-half hours from Victoria, the capital of BC.
I’m also a PhD candidate at the University of Massachusetts, Amherst, currently writing my dissertation on clitic prosody in Bosnian, Serbian, and Croatian. My research interests in linguistics include Wakashan and Slavic languages, prosodic phonology, and aspects of the syntax-phonology interface, especially prosodic clitics.
