We are a research lab in the condensed matter physics group in the Physics Department at UMass Amherst.  We do experimental work in nonequilibrium statistical physics, primarily on soft-condensed matter systems.

January 2009  New preprint on wrinkling instabilities: A smooth cascade of wrinkles at the edge of a floating elastic film

December 2008  Applications are now open to the second edition of  our summer school on Soft Solids and Complex Fluids for graduate students in statistical physics and soft matter physics.

September 2008  Vijay Narayan just submitted his Ph.D. thesis entitled: Phase behaviour and dynamics of an agitated monolayer of granular rods. Vijay is off to Cambridge University for a postdoc.
