Doctoral Work: Using venous occlusion plethysmography, functional MRI techniques, and magnetic resonance spectroscopy, Danielle investigated the relationships between muscle strength, force production and blood flow. Of particular interest was how blood flow impacts muscle fatigue and how both blood flow and fatigue are affected by age.
Masters Thesis Work: Danielle conducted a study in collaboration with Yale University to investigate muscle perfusion in response to isometric leg exercise. This study used MRI to quantify perfusion of the dorsiflexor muscles immediately following an isometric contraction. The primary goal of this study was to determine the relationship between perfusion and muscle force production.
