Research I am currently conducting research in 2 different areas of social psychology. My primary interests, and what will ultimately become my master's thesis, revolve around ideological conflicts in the domain of morality. I am specifically interested in how these conflicts create feelings of prejudice toward individuals and groups of people who disagree with us. My secondary interests lie in the area of political psychology. I have previously investigated the effects of mood on how people search for information in a simulated election. Analyses completed thus far centered on the amount of time spent searching, types of information viewed, and reported confidence in the vote decision all as a function of mood and self-identified political orientation. Further analyses will look at the specific search patterns employed by voters. If you are a student at UMass and would like to be involved in this research as an RA, please contact me by phone or email.
