TOPIC 1: How does Horatio Alger's Ragged Dick and Lewis Hine's photographs on child labor use representations of working-class children to construct an ideal of middle-class childhood?

TOPIC 2: Both Horatio Alger's Ragged Dick and Lewis Hine's photographs for the Child Welfare Exhibit were intended to carry a reform message. Compare and contrast the reform messages suggested by Alger and Hine.
