Valentine's Day Gifts

I feel like Valentine's Day is such a stressful holiday for people. If you don't have a significant other to spend the day with (and let's face it, a lot of college age people don't) and make it special you go crazy and either feel depressed yourself for not having someone or other people say they are sorry when they hear that you don't (which I still don't understand, maybe you like being single, who are they to judge?). And if you do have someone special in your life like a boyfriend or girlfriend there is always that stress of figuring out what to do or if you have to get the other person a present and what to get them and how much to spend. I know a lot of girls (myself included) that are nervous about what he's going to do too. We spend so much time worrying about lingerie and flowers and going out to dinner or trying to make the night special that sometimes we think so hard about it that it is more stressful and harder to enjoy. I know a lot of people who don't even celebrate it because it always turns into an argument with them and their boyfriends. One of them usually thinks the other is doing too much or too little and they end up fighting the whole night (and sometimes longer than that even) instead of just being able to enjoy it. I personally think that it is a nice holiday to recognize those people you love, but we should also always be recognizing these people and making sure that we tell them often how much we love them or appreciate them and everything they do for and mean to us.

Valentine's Day should be a day that you spend with any person that you love whether it is your boyfriend, girlfriend, parent, sibling or friend. It shouldn't just be about sexy lingerie and flowers and candy, it should be about getting to spend time with the people you love, doing the things that you love to do together. So next month when it comes up, don't stress about the tiny things like gifts, just do something together and have a great time and try to remember how lucky you are to have that person or those people in your life.
