Recently, I have been spending a lot of time online researching methods and processes that can be used to help my father’s company save money and reduce inadequate areas that are not working properly, if they are even working at all. In owning an advertising agency, there are many times when his company is limiting its growth because it is not spending usefully. Often it seems there are areas of the company that are flawed in many ways and as a result are pits that keep spending money without returning profitable gains. I came across a website in my research that focuses particularly on this issue. Six sigma is a process that helps identify areas of a company that have deficiencies through statistical analysis. This allows for resources to be taken from areas that are not producing and then be placed in alternate areas where they can achieve optimal results. I feel this is the best way to help my father’s company grow. I know he does not want to continue spending money if it is not going to make him more money. It is obviously not a practical way to run a company. Therefore, after going over this marketing process with him, he has decided to make it mandatory for all employees to enroll in courses at six sigma online. Everyone will be required in the next year to achieve at a minimum the requirements to be certified as a six sigma green belt. To help make this easier on his employees and to ensure it is done correctly, he is going to schedule work days in the classroom. There will be two a month and employees will participate in workshops. However, people who are at this time working in any financial segment of the company must reach certification equal to that of a six sigma black belt. He wants his employees to incorporate the principles behind this process instinctively. It is important to have each employee aware of this process and receive some course training. This way he can be assured everyone in the advertising agency knows how to use this process. The goal is to have a positive impact on how the company is organized and managed. And, without saying there is the expectation that fiscal quarterly reports will improve as well. I have done my research on this topic and I am excited to see the results it produces for my father in the future.
