Herbal tea

I got some pretty cool news today. Since I have been working at the tea shop for about two years now and have another two until I finish my degree, they have agreed to make me manager starting in the fall. I will be spending the summer doing all of my managerial training before I really get the keys to the back door starting next fall. It's so great that they have asked me to do this. Aside from the fact that I feel that I am the best employee in there, I don't know how they set me apart from the other employees enough to think that I would make a good manager. My boss told me that I will be working about sixty hours a week training over the summer so in the fall I will only need to be there for opening and closing of the shop. In the mean time I need to learn all of the ins and outs of the shop, especially the wholesale tea ordering. So far I haven't gotten too involved in the ordering process beyond whether I should get a green tea or an oolong tea, but I just do that myself. I also have to get acquainted with the sellers of our particular herbal teas, because we get them from a bunch of different tea sources depending on which one we are getting at the time. I will also have to learn a little bit of economics. Since the owner of all three shops in town basically just stays out of the way now unless he's training managers, it's the managers that have to worry about the prices and the profit margin. I will have to be pretty quickly schooled on the mechanics of foodservice tea. Since the shop I work at also sells foodservice iced tea to the university, I have to also manage those prices. I am thinking this is going to be a really cool summer. I will be working so much, but it will be doing something I really love. Plus, I will have a huge resume boost with my two years as a foodservice ice tea manager. I really hope that last point can get me a teaching job.Tea is awesome!
