elementary secondary schools
With my fourth semester rapidly approaching, I must decide pretty quickly, where I am going to do my internship. For all education majors, you have to take this class in your fourth semester in which you go to a school for the age group you wish to teach and observe the workings of the classroom. Around here there are plenty of different private elementary schools so the elementary education majors have it pretty easy. For me it has been a bit more difficult finding a secondary school that is both appealing for me based on the description, and the willingness of their staff to accommodate my intrusion twice a week for four months.
Once I have my internship done, I will basically be spending my last year of school learning strictly the content knowledge. Meeting the requirements for my minor will be the hardest part because my grades can't ever go below a B plus average at any point after I have began the process. So after the fall, I will have two semesters of almost solid history classes. Which to some people I talk to seems like the most boring time they can imagine, for me it is like a vacation from all of the classes that I take, and don't really want to take. I will actually be totally done with the minor after the spring, but my last semester will be the last classes I need for the major in social studies education.
The other thing I really have to worry about is keeping my name on the dean's list. Before I said that my grades can't slip to keep my minor. Well obviously the same can be said for the dean's list because I need my grades to be amazing and almost perfect to get that. I haven't had much trouble staying on the list so far, but I do feel that my schedule is just making everything so hard for me that it may become a problem. Now I have to work twice as hard at my job because my scholarship is up and I am out of money. It's all just this big crazy juggling act that I seem to do so well.
