A HOME SECURITY SYSTEM IS EVEN MORE IMPORTANT WHEN YOU ARE HOME ALONE
My parents recently installed a home security system. I never really understood how they worked, or honestly why anyone would want or need such a thing. In a conversation I expressed this to my father, who was quick to explain to me why he chose to get one. He said that because he was away on business quite a bit, and because he and mom were getting older he thought that since they spent a lot of time just them in their home, that it would be a good idea to have someone else who was watching over the place. You see, I didn't realize that with your home security and alarm system came a monitoring package which allows you to have someone constantly monitoring the signal that was coming from your house. This is important, because when my parents alarm system goes off, whether there is a home intrusion or a fire, the alarm company calls my parents. If they answer they must give a key word to the alarm company to let them know that everything is alright. If they don't then they will still send help, even if my parents did answer the phone. This way if there is a home invasion, the burglar doesn't know the code word, and my parents could tell him that any word is the code word, and then they will send help anyway. My father felt that this would give him the piece of mind that he needs while he is out of town and mom is alone. He even had them install 2 panic buttons and a security camera for extra security. I guess it really is important, especially when you get on in years to make sure that your home is safe and secure.
It is really nice to know that my parents home is protected and that they are being watched over no matter what happens. Also, the alarm company has my name and number as well just in case there is a problem, they can get in touch with me. Now the only problem is teaching the cleaning lady to type in the passcode without messing it up. She is having a lot of trouble understanding the whole process.
