Technology Today
It is crazy how much stuff we do online now. In any given day I wake up, check my email and face book and go online to see if my friends are on. I go to class (and often submit homework assignments online or print out notes for the next class) and I even work online (and sign in and out). I check my bank statement, I just ordered a new phone online and I even pay my bills using the internet.
There really aren't many things at all that I can think of that you can't do online. Sure you can't workout or travel on the internet, but you can find workout videos, songs and routines and you can book a flight, check gas prices and even get directions for your tip.
So why not learn on the computer too? CBT (which is computer training) is the new thing. Literally almost everyone is doing it. It is an amazing option for students everywhere, and especially nontraditional ones. You have the opportunity to learn online in your own home, at your own pace. You can chose which courses you want to take and are you are currently a student, you can even do it in addition to your current course load so that you can get in a few extra hours or over breaks or the summer so you have more time to focus on just one class.
If you are currently employed and you are looking to do something like getting your a+ certification, computer training is a great way to go. You can still work your regular job and then on your own time you can do the computer training. It is easy, affordable (a lot of companies will even pay for it for you), time efficient and it shows that you are willing to go above and beyond to do what is best for your company and to take them to the next level.
Also if you are just looking for a job you can pad your resume and show that you are willing to do the work and make sure that you are up to speed with technology, you can go through and get the certification while you are job hunting. It can't hurt you to have more experience in computers and will look great to future (and current) employees.
WEIGHT LOSS AND DIET PILL EXPERT
A friend of mine just got a job at a local health food store, and now she believes that she is an absolute authority on health food and weight loss. Don't get me wrong she seems to be learning a lot about health products and weight loss products and stuff, but still it seems as if she is always spouting a bunch stuff at me. I decided that since she seems to know it all, I would go online and find a bunch of information about diet pills and then I would start saying the wrong things to her, but like they were fact, just to see if she really knew what I was talking about or if she was just faking it. I know this may sound really childish, but sometimes when people get to be real know it alls, it really pushes my buttons and makes me want to push back. In any case, I did some research about acai, and some other weight loss products, and then one night when we were out with a group of friends, I decided to test her knowledge so to speak. I guess that perhaps, she really did know some stuff, but when I began talking to her about a certain weight loss product that she wasn't familiar with she went along with me pretending like she knew it all. So I brought out the article that I had about the product and I said I must have confused it with the information I received about another product, and I must admit that she handled her error better than I would have expected. I was impressed, and then she asked me if she could have the article so that she could learn more about that particular all natural diet pill, so really what could I say, I had to give her the article.
I think from now on when someone starts acting like an expert on something I will be much more gracious about the situation. Some people really do know a lot about a certain subject and so it is important to listen to them, even when they do seem to be a bit full of themselves.
