The University of Massachusetts Amherst's MFA Program for Poets and Writers presents the 8th Annual Juniper Literary Festival:
The World and the Word:
Environmental Science and Literary Art
April 25 & 26, 2008
The World and the Word, the 8th annual Juniper Festival at the
University of Massachusetts Amherst, will explore the confluence of
environmental science and literary art. Poets, essayists, fiction
writers, activists, publishers, politicians, scientists, and citizens
will be brought together to investigate the many ways their modes of
working, and the ideas and kinds of writing and engagement they
produce, can, do, should, and might overlap, contradict, combine,
diverge, collide, and intersect. Narrative and data, fieldwork and
form, lived experience and social process: how do these transmute and
translate one another? The 2008 Juniper Festival will be two days of
readings, roundtables, conversations, film screenings, and more.
A program of the University of Massachusetts Amherst MFA Program for Poets and Writers’ Juniper Initiative. Co-sponsored by Amherst Books, Amherst Cinema Arts Center, The Green Sanctuary Committee, Emily Dickinson Homestead & The Valley Advocate. Made possible with the generous support of the University of Massachusetts English Department, College of Humanities & Fine Arts, Vice Provost of Research, Arts Council, Coop Power, & Franklin Land Trust. |
