First, here is a link to the site: Sugarloaf USA
The review:
Description: This web site supports the Maine ski area Sugarloaf USA
Form: This is a neat site but from what I can tell it still needs some work. It appears to have many fancy features but either my browser is getting confused or the webmasters are trying to possibly make it difficult to view the site's page sources. Going to the home page for the site invokes a script that pops up a new window that is 'full screen', according to the page source info. The trouble is, on the new 'full-screen' browser window that pops up you can not get a browser menu to select 'view source' from. There may be a way to do it anyway but I haven't figured it out yet. Also, accessing this site over a modem is noticeably slow, even at 33.6kbps, due to the fancy code and tricks it uses. I don't feel like this is a drawback, just an indication that technology has not caught up with this issue yet.
Content: The content of this web site is really useful if you are into any of the activities that take place at this ski area. It has information about activities and events that take place at the ski area all four seasons of the year, not just winter time. In the winter there are daily weather forcasts for the mountains and snow and trail conditions for the mountain that are updated several times a day.
Tools: This web site uses simple HTML, tables, frames, Java script and a scrolling banner applet.
Appeal: I like this site a lot.
Mainly, I use it sevaral times a week during the winter ski season to check
on the weather and trail conditions at the mountain. I also use it
to find out about when special events are scheduled. Also, I have
used it in the past to find out more about lodging rentals in the area.
If you ski Sugarloaf USA this site will keep you in touch with what's going
on there like it was right next door.
