17: What do you like most about this course and/or the instructor's teaching of it?
Number of Respondents: 6  (66.7%)
It's online, which is good. I like listening to his lectures (as opposed to just reading online materials). Prof McCarthy is entertaining, enthusiastic, lively and fun, and this comes across even in an online course.
Wonderful and very well-put-together lectures!
I liked all the material presented and the global nature of the course. The teacher was knowledgable, asked questions and taught naturally which made me feel like I was right there in the classroom
I like the lectures and quizzes.
very knowledgeable. He keeps the material relevant and current. The feed back that I got from graduate student concerning my writing was helpful in all classes.
Everything is explained with the utmost clarity and relatability. The subject is really interesting and I can use what I learn in conversations with peers and coworkers.
18: What about this course and/or the instructor's teaching of it needs change or improvement?
Number of Respondents: 5  (55.6%)
Less Grad Assistant and more McCarthy interaction with students
It would be nice to have an actual video of the prof to go with the audio to make it feel more like an in-class course.
It's almost perfect. I would have liked some more interaction with other students online. The course itself is great.
Doing a great job.
Be more hands on in evaluating assignments.
19: What suggestions can you offer that would have made this course a better learning experience for you?
Number of Respondents: 4  (44.4%)
Add discussion features. I never interacted with anyone else in the class.
See above.
More interaction with other students and professor.

20: Any additional comments?
Number of Respondents: 3  (33.3%)
Yes. UMass is way, way, way too expensive, especially for Mass. residents. I can't believe an online class cost ONE THOUSAND DOLLARS. Outrageous and shameful. The state of higher education in Mass. is embarrassing.
Of all the courses I've taken at UMASS this one has been one of my top two. Material was very interesting and professor taught it well. Course was also organized in such a way that it facilitated learning. Loved this course!
