Story of win as told by Kate's owner:
Okay
an update from yesterdays show. Miss Kate did take the breed yesterday
but got dumped by the judge in group .. however it was nothing to do
with her as everyone of the dogs put up were big dogs, labs setters
etc….so my hopes of her taking group didn’t happen.
However…and I do consider this much better than a group placement….she
was used by Christina Thomson in the zone finals for jr. handling. Christina
and Kate won their group hands down and made such a wonderful team people ASSUMED
she had been working with Kate for a long time. Now at the end of the day…and
boy was it the end…9:30 p.m. in Arnprior which is 2 hours from home
was judging for best over all. We all know how fierce the competition is
at this level…so in they go again.
Kate was having a wonderful time flying around the ring and staring intently
at Christina actually at this point she knew what Christina was going to ask
for before even asking…then came the order to change dogs…ha ha Kate
was not impressed and kept looking over her shoulder for “her Christina” … she
made the other handler work for her every move…and when she got to go back
to Christina you could almost see this dog smile.
So we waited for about half an hour for the scores to be tallied up…and
back in the ring the final 4 went…and were told to go around the ring for
a final “lap” … and then the decision was made…best over
all for the zone finals went to….The cocker and Christina!! I did
get a picture but didn’t wait for it, so I will get it tonight when the
jr. comes home from the dog show and send you a copy. Then and only then
did we tell people that Kate and Christina only met on Friday evening for the
very first time…
Kate has decided that she quite liked the experience of sleeping with Christina
and getting spoiled even more. The more times Kate went around the ring
the better she looked and when the two of them took their victory lap and the
crowd started to clap cheer etc…I swear Kate went around moving even better
than before the clapping started…what a beautiful site to see the two of
them move. Christina has hinted that she wouldn’t be too disappointed
if I decided to keep her in coat until the Nationals in July!! So at this
point, Miss Kate will not be getting a hair cut as planned but I didn’t
make any promises I just told the jr. I would see how things went and how busy
I got…with a wedding July 15 and my daughter and her family moving away
the end of July on top of everything else time is not something I have a lot
of extra of…however watching the pair of them flying around the ring so
much a team has given me something to think about before the hair cut.
I just wanted to share with you three what a great day Kate had in the ring and
snuggling in my lap all the way home from the show and how much she enjoyed sleeping
in a bed…hmmm do they make anything larger than a KING SIZE in a bed????
Have a great Mothers Day…and thank you again for making this all possible.
Carolyn and a tired but very happy and beautiful Kate!!
