Old exam problems - relevant
problems from last fall's course, all lumped together. As exam time approaches I'll post
a list of the old exam problems that are most relevant to the upcoming
exam, plus some hints.
- Old exam solutions - sorry, but I won't post these - they are of no
use as study aids (trust me, it's for your own good). I would be happy to
go through old exam problems with you, and I will be happy to give you
feedback on your solutions to these, but I'm not going to post
solutions. Notice the
similarity between most exam problems and HW problems. Notice also that
for most exam problems, there are about 5 similar HW problems with
solutions!
- Current semester exam answer keys: Final Exam
- Final exam scores, HOQ points, and course
grades by ID number (with
permission). (A signed
permission form, approved by the Registrar's Office, is on file for each
student specifically authorizing the posting of grades in this manner.)
Look for this link to become active around July 13ish.
Announcements -
HW sets, answer keys, and lecture
notes are available above as .pdf files.
You'll need Adobe
Acrobat Reader. (You can download it free of charge). If you can't get
either the display or the printing to work, use a computer in the CRC or one of
the OIT computer labs on campus.

Homework corrections and
clarifications -
If you find something in the HW sets or solutions
that you think is incorrect, don't hesitate to let me know. Same thing goes for exams - you can
always ask if something is a typo.
(There's nothing worse than having a huge number of students waste time
struggling with an exam problem that's impossible because there's one H or a
charge missing from the formula - so say something.)

Stats
for the most recent exam -
Final exam -
Average = 146 (58.6%)
Range = 45 - 213
Approximate letter grade ranges for this exam - i.e. this would be your approximate
course grade based only on this exam, assuming you earn the maximum number
of quiz points by the end of the semester.
A:
about 200 and up
B:
about 160 - 199
C:
about 120 - 159
D:
about 85 - 119
I'm not going to set + and - borderlines - if
you're in about the high third of the B range that's a B+, if you're in about
the lower third in the C range, that's a C-.
