Hello,

Welcome to my online portfolio. I am a student in the Professional Writing and Technical Communication (PWTC) Programat UMass Amherst, and this site is a requirement for one of the courses. The purpose of this site is to demonstrate my background, skills, and knowledge of professional writing and technical communication. You may find samples of my work in technical writing, creative writing, and website design as you browse through the above links.

My theories on visual design are that it should be simple, clutter-free, and related to the theme or ideas of the work being presented. In the PWTC Program, we have discussed literature by Tufte, Williams, Weiss, and others about the qualities of good graphic design. This site is based primarily on Williams principles of PARC (Proximity, Alignment, Repetition, and Contrast). I used Colorblender to develop a color scheme for the site, and each page mirrors the others. They are all easily identified as part of the site as a whole.

My career aspirations and reasons for both developing this site and completing the PWTC Program are to act as a translator and provider of information, whether by acting as a stage manager in community theaters, writing "How-to" guides, or otherwise sharing knowledge or ideas to help others.
