New Business A.- Learning Commons Update (Emily Alling) Learning Commons Factoids: A Learning Commons Fact Sheet is available. 400+ Wireless ports The Learning Commons has more than 150 computers, of which nearly 60 are open to the public. 24/7 Gateway established 24/5 hours/day open service established. No extension to weekend planned. Quiet Study Space 2nd & 3rd floors. Cafe hrs have been extended. Day use lockers are available. Real time display of occupied workstations. Oct 05: 77,932 06: 106,768, 07: 149,000 Learning resource center: 1200, 3400, OIT computer classrooms: 10,000 unique of 92,000 Word, Powerpoint, Minitab popular Use by patrons surveyed: 10% daily 18% 1 per week 23% 1 per month 23% 1 per semester B.- Email Misuse Policies Dave Powiki reported on the recent incident in which a UMass employee used a UMass directory tool to legally get alphabetical lists of UMass Faculty and Staff and (illegally) used University time and resources to send a commercial advertisement of his services to the campus community my mass Email. C.- Admin Items (Next Meeting & Next Semester) May 11: SIS Liaison Committee Panel? We will seek to have a panel discussion on the effectiveness of our SIS Liaison Committee to carry out its goals.
