Early '60's Velocette Venom Veeline Clubman

My friend David Benfield was going off to London for some sight-seeing. He asked me if there was anything he could get for me in England. I said there was such a thing. He could pick up a Velocette Venom Veeline Clubman. I gave him the address of the biggest Velocette dealer in London. A few days later I got a call from the cargo department at Logan Airport. They said they had a "package" for me. I drove up and found the Velo. It immediately struck me as one of the most beautiful motorcycles I had ever seen. It took me about an hour to get it started. It had four speeds -- medium 4th gear; medium-high 4th gear; high 4th gear; and higher 4th gear. It was set up for Clubman style road racing in England. It was not ideally suited to driving in heavy traffic through the tunnel coming out of Logan. What a bike! It was a love-hate relationship for a couple of years, until the pain in my right knee became so severe that I had to let it go. The dog in the picture is my old pal Dog, one of the smartest and most loyal dogs I have ever known.
