**AS OF APRIL 2008, PIT ACCESS WILL BE RESTRICTED**

For gaining pit access (as of Summer 2007):
0. Obtain an id card by going to the user's office and filling out all necessary paperwork.
1. Take the safety training video in Bldg 55 (showtimes at 10am and 3pm in English).
Swipe your card, and make sure that it says that the information has been saved. The
video gives you safety training for levels 1, 2, and 3.
2. Get level 4 safety training by doing the online courses at http://sir.cern.ch
(click on the atlas 4a link). There are four "courses" and quizes.
It takes about 20-30min.
3. You need to have an EDH authorization password to fill out online forms such as
the one in step 4. Send an email to ais.support@cern.ch. Example:
To: ais.support@cern.ch
Subject: EDH signature password
Bonjour,
I would like to request an EDH Authorisation Password to sign documents.
My login name is jlove.

4. Go to http://edh.cern.ch and login. Go to the "Access Request" link and fill
out the form. Once you get the password from step 3 you can sign the document.
5. Wait for Olga Beltramello to sign off on your request.
6. Wait for Francois Butin to sign off on your request.
you should be all set. You can check the status of your request by going
to the EDH link "Documents Created By Me." To go down the pit, you need to
get a white hard hat with a chin strap, and safety boots.
